Obituary of Richard F. Lang

Warrensburg: Richard F. Lang, 73, of Sanford Street, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at the Glens Falls Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Born on October 10, 1936 in the Bronx, he was the son of the late Arthur and Dorothy (Dorr) Lang. He served in the Army National Guard for three years. Richard worked for many years with the New York City Transit Authority as a construction inspector. He was responsible for checking construction sites in the subway system as well as the sewer system throughout the entire city. He knew every inch of the underside of New York City. He enjoyed woodworking, cabinet making, tinkering with cars, and he loved to dance. At one time, he was a member of the Blue Mountain Lake Volunteer Fire Department and the Knights of Columbus in Warrensburg. Besides his parents, Richard is predeceased by his sister, Dorothy Lang. Survivors include his beloved wife of 30 years, Edith (Gardiner) “Kitten” Lang of Warrensburg; two sons: Richard Lang of North Carolina; Eric Lang and his wife, Rita of Warrensburg; his daughter, Missi Lang of Warrensburg; his grandchildren: Erica, Andrew, Francesca, Louis, Ashlei, Tiffani, Maggi, and Taylor Lang. Friends may call on Richard’s family from 5 to 8 pm, Friday, February 5, 2010 at St. Cecilia’s Roman Catholic Church, Main Street, Warrensburg. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 11 am, Saturday, February 6 at the church with Father Paul Cox and Father Nellis Tremblay concelebrating. Rite of Committal will be held in St. Cecilia’s Cemetery in the spring. In lieu of flowers, Richard’s family suggests that memorial donations in his memory be made to St. Cecilia’s RC Church, 3802 Main St., Warrensburg, NY 12885 or to the Glens Falls Hospital, Park St., Glens Falls, NY 12801.
