Obituary of Donald K. Brown

Athol: Donald K. Brown, 66, of Athol Road, passed away, Wednesday, August 6, 2008 at the Glens Falls Hospital following a courageous battle with cancer. Born August 18, 1941 in Albany, he was the son of the late Leon and Elizabeth (Elwell) Brown. Following his high school graduation, Don served in the US Navy during Vietnam. Don was a lifelong resident of the area and began his working years at the former Warrensburg Board and Paper Co. For over 30 years, he worked at the NYS DOT before retiring in 1996. Most recently, Don was the Elementary School Crossing Guard in Warrensburg. He will be missed by many of the students he enjoyed seeing each day. He was a longtime member of the Thurman Vol. Fire Co. and delivered meals on wheels. Besides his parents, his wife, Elizabeth (Smith) Brown; and his sons, Erik and Mark have all predeceased him. Survivors include his three daughters, Bambi Holland and her companion, Manny Castro of Athol, Bunny Breault and her companion, Don Mallory of Glens Falls, Tammy Seekford of Spotsylvania, VA, his sons, Scott Brown and his wife, Vinda of Athol, Aaron Brown of Athol and James Dimick of Glens Falls; his companion of 25 years, Betty; grandchildren, Josh and Amy Clement, Mike Clement and companion, Becky Stapley, Alicia and Jobe Breault, Jobe Brown and Kristen Brown, Kacey, Zack, Christian, Jonathan and Robert; great grandchild, Owen Clement and son in laws, Scott Holland, and Albert Breault. Friends may call from 5-8 pm Friday evening at the Alexander-Baker Funeral Home, 3809 Main St., Warrensburg. Members of the Thurman Vol. Fire Co. will gather and pay their respects at 7 pm. Funeral services will be conducted 11 am, Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Robert Herrmann, Pastor of the Thurman Baptist Church officiating.
