Indian Lake:
Heaven will shine a little brighter tonight as our beautiful angel, Dori (West) Conlon, 52, formerly of North River, passed away peacefully Monday, March 23, 2015 at Glens Falls Hospital, following a courageous battle with cancer.
Born February 23, 1963 in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of Margaret “Norma” (LaBelle) West of North Creek and the late Leopaul E. West.
The baby of the family, Dori was a strong woman of many trades, like most West women are. She was loud and had the mouth of a truck driver, but in her short time here on Earth, she lived life on her terms, and could always put a smile on your face, even in the hardest of situations.
Dori was a caretaker throughout the area for many years. She enjoyed arts and crafts, wood burning, painting, glass etching, crocheting, fishing, hunting, animal watching, photography, baking wedding cakes and long scenic drives.
Besides her mother, Norma and her companion, Bradley “Dean” Morehouse of North Creek, she is survived by her beloved husband, Richard “Dick” Conlon of Indian Lake; a son, Lucus West of North Creek; a grandson, Dawson West of Riparius; step-children, April and Philip Holder and Ricky and Amber Conlon, all of Harriman, TN, Michael and April Conlon of Kingston, TN, and Travis Conlon of Coalfield, TN; seven step-grandchildren, Hope, Faith, Kenny, Tim, Connor, Gage, Cyrus; six siblings, Paul David West and his wife, Jackie, of North Creek, Darryl West and his wife, Susie, of Warrensburg, Darlene Walker and her husband, Russell, of New Smyrna Beach, FL, Diane Schilinski of North Creek, Denise Conlon and her partner, Fred “Chuck” Granger, of Johnsburg, and Dawna Jackson and her partner, Jim Dower, of Chestertown. She also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends.
Friends may call on Dori’s family from 1 to 3 pm, Friday, March 27, 2015 at the Sodom Community Church.
A funeral service to celebrate her beautiful life will immediately follow the visitation at 3 pm, Friday at the church, with Rev. Ronald Allen, officiating.
Dori’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at the C.R. Wood Cancer Center at Glens Falls Hospital as well as Kim and Randy Ross, Kelly Vaisey, and Pat Morehouse for the outstanding care and compassion given during this difficult time.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations in Dori’s memory to a memorial fund in her name at Community Bank, North Creek.
