Obituary of Ruth G. Duffany

North Creek: Ruth Duffany, 90 of North Creek, NY, passed away on Friday, April 25 at Adirondack Tri-County Nursing Home & Rehabilitation Center with her family by her side. Born July 8, 1923 in North River, she was the daughter of Emmett and Myrtle (Hills) Gardner. Ruth graduated from Glens Falls High School in 1940 and married Ernest A. Duffany on April 9, 1942. The couple spent 44 years together until his untimely passing in 1986. Ruth and Ernie managed the North Woods Club in Minerva, NY for several years and also owned a cross country ski shop in North Creek. During that period, they also operated the cross county shop at Garnet Hill Lodge in North River and the sign "Duffany's Run" marks an existing trail. Besides her parents and beloved husband, Ruth was predeceased by 3 infant children, Phyllis Ruth, Doric Ann, and Craig Ernest Duffany. She is survived by a daughter, Carolyn Hutchins and her husband Jim of North Creek; her grandson Reid (Jen) Hutchins and great grandchildren, Piper and Iver, all of Queensbury, NY; a sister Gertrude Rutherford of Morrison, CO, and her very dear friend, Al Tanoury of Queensbury. At Ruth's request, no visiting hours are scheduled. A graveside service will take place at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville at a time to be announced, where her earthly remains will be laid to rest alongside her husband. The family would like to acknowledge and express their gratitude to all of the employees at Adirondack Tri-County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for their professional and loving care of both Ruth and her family.
