Schroon Lake:
David G. Hooper, 74, passed away peacefully Monday, April 6, 2015 at his home, surrounded by his loved ones.
Born November 17, 1940 in Albany, he was the son of the late Francis Edward and Mary Catherine (Nagle) Hooper.
David was employed by Eastman Kodak Co. in Rochester, where he was a manager in many areas of the Optics Dept. for 30 years. After retiring, he became a Master Gardener; he worked with the Beautification Committee to envision and execute the Bicentennial Garden in Schroon Lake. He also educated students during the Essex County Field Days and gave many presentations promoting composting and gardening in the North Country. David’s passion was clearing his Adirondack acreage, driving his trusty John Deere, and relocating rocks with his faithful Jeep.
He, as well as his wife, Sharon, volunteered for many years with the NYS Head Injury Assoc., learning how to assist their son, Terrance, and many others in coping with devastating injuries. David was well loved and respected by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, David was predeceased by a son, Kevin Robert Hooper, and a brother, John Robert Hooper.
He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Sharon (Rosenbaum) Hooper; sons, Mark David (Judith Lyn) Hooper, and Terrance Brian Hooper; granddaughters, Jennifer Lyn (Kenneth) Fitzsimmons, and Kathryn Michelle (Tristan Brown) Hooper; great-granddaughters, Kameryn Rae, Adalyn Michelle, and Sydney Kate Brown; his siblings, Jean Zecher, Frank (Nancy) Hooper, Terrance (Avis) Hooper; sister-in-law, Mary Theresa Hooper; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
David’s family would like to thank High Peaks Hospice for the care and compassion provided throughout his life’s final chapter.
