Warrensburg: Bette Kenyon, 86, formerly of Library Avenue, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at the Saratoga Center for Rehab and Skilled Nursing in Ballston Spa, following a long illness. Born November 22, 1930 in Worcester, MA, she was the daughter of the late Herbert D. and Ruth (Hutchins) Noyes. Bette married Gerald H. Kenyon on June 2, 1950 and the couple relocated to Warrensburg shortly thereafter. She was employed at the Hill Corp Dress Factory for 20 years, where she was a gifted seamstress. Bette was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Warrensburg and the “Over the Edge Quilting and Knitting Club” for several years, where she enjoyed her many friends. She enjoyed crafts and knitted hundreds of pairs of mittens for Operation Santa Claus, as well as blankets for veterans in the VA Hospital, and other various knitting projects throughout the years. She and Gerry enjoyed vacationing in Freeport, Maine, and camping on the Schroon River. In addition to her parents, Bette is predeceased by her beloved husband, Gerry, of 50 years, and a sister, Leslie Johnston. She is survived by her daughter, Lesley Brownell and husband, Warren, of Corinth; two sons, Michael W. Kenyon and wife, Rebecca, of Warrensburg, and Martin L. Kenyon and wife, Janet, of South Glens Falls; four grandchildren, Jeffrey and Jonathan Brownell, Martin Kenyon, and Megan DeStefano; eight great-grandchildren, Lori, Meagan, Logan, Mason, and Brian Brownell, and Kaylee, Alexandra, and Anthony DeStefano. She also leaves behind several nieces and a nephew. At Bette’s request there will be no calling hours scheduled. A graveside service to celebrate her life will be conducted at 1:30 pm, Friday, July 21, 2017 in Warrensburg Cemetery with the Rev. John Aldridge officiating. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations in Bette’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association. Bette’s family would like to thank The Jesse, where she resided for over seven years, Jean and Bill Brady, and all their wonderful caregivers for the love and gentle care they provided for her, as well as Pastor John Aldridge, for his visits that she thoroughly enjoyed.
