Obituary of Barbara Jean Bell

Queensbury: Barbara Jean Bell, 56, formally of Gurney Lane, passed away, Thursday evening, December 1, 2005 at the Stanton Health and Rehabilitation Center in Queensbury. Born January 25, 1949 in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the late Edwin and Helene (Porter) Bell. Following her graduation from high school, Barbara attended Adirondack Community College and earned a degree in Accounting. She worked at Montgomery Wards for many years and at ACC, before retiring after eight years from the Greater Adirondack Home Aids in Glens Falls upon the onset of ALS. Before her illness, Barbara enjoyed kayaking and bicycling. She loved spending time with her nieces and nephews and watching television. She was a member of the Bay Road Presbyterian Church and attended the Warrensburg First United Methodist Church. Survivors include her four sisters, Roberta (Bobbie) Reichenbach and her husband, David of Queensbury, Shirley Sherman and her husband, Frank of Warrensburg, Helen Wood and her husband, F. Harvey of Adirondack, Catherine Pickett and her husband, Paul of Queensbury; her aunt, Jean Brouillette and her husband, William of South Glens Falls; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be conducted 11 am Tuesday at the Warrensburg First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dawn Robbins, Pastor officiating. Burial will follow in the Gurney Lane Cemetery, Queensbury. Friends may call on Barb’s family from 7-9 pm Monday evening at the Alexander-Baker Funeral Home, 3809 Main St., Warrensburg.
