Obituary of William H. Baisley

Troy: William H. Baisley, 93, passed away Sunday, March 8, 2015, peacefully at The Center for Nursing & Rehabilitation at Hoosick Falls. Born July 1, 1921 in Brooklyn, he was the son of the late William T. and Florence H. (Lindner) Baisley. Bill enlisted into the United States Marine Corps, and honorably served his country during WWII, stationed in the South Pacific. Bill married Kathryn M. Lewis on July 5, 1947 in Poughkeepsie. The couple resided in Clinton Hollow, where they raised their three children. Following his retirement in 1983 from the NYS Dept. of Transportation, William and his family relocated to the Adirondacks where he built their dream home on River Road in Thurman. When he wasn’t found tinkering, or maintaining his home and yard, Bill enjoyed spending time traveling the country and back packing the Appalachian Trail. In addition to his parents, William was predeceased by his beloved wife, Kathryn, and his brother, John. He is survived by two daughters, Pamela Cannon of South Korea and Deborah Vrba and her husband, Robert Cox, of Troy; one son, Jeffrey Baisley and his wife, Debra, of Elon, NC; and a sister, Evelyn Ellis of Port Orange, FL. He also leaves behind seven grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. At William’s request there will be no calling hours of funeral services scheduled.
