Gary H. Millington, Sr., 74, of Igerna Rd., passed away peacefully, Friday, July 4, 2014 at Glens Falls Hospital, following a long illness.
Born July 9, 1939 in Bakers Mills, he was the son of the late Henry and Julia (Hopkins) Millington.
Gary attended school in Hudson Falls, before relocating to Pottersville with family.
He enlisted in the United States Air Force at the age of 17, where he was stationed in the Philippines, honorably serving his country until 1960.
He married Delora Allen on June 3, 1983 in Corinth.
Gary was a pulp truck driver for many years before becoming employed by NEPCCO; retiring at the age of 63.
He enjoyed golf, jam sessions, singing, and television game shows.
Besides his parents, Gary was predeceased by his step-mother, Eva Harrington, a brother, Glen Millington, step-brother, George Harrington and two step-sisters, Sandy Patton and Louisa Balcom.
He is survived by his wife, Delora “Dody” Millington; children, Prudence Marjancevis and her companion, Alexander Greenmier, Tina Millington, Gary Millington, Jr., and his wife, Michelle, Rebecca Hoag, Amy Millington and her companion, Etiennne Van de Ende; step-children, William H. Warner, Jr. and his wife, Connie, Lawrence S. Warner and his wife, Sandra, and Rodney Warner and his fiancé, Soo Kyung Kim; grandchildren, Bridget Hill, Amber (Marco) Gillia, Caleb (Melissa Connoly) Millington, AJ Edoo, Benjamin (Sheena Hoffman) Millington, Travis Millington, Gabriel Van de Ende, and Bryce Millington; step-grandchildren, Joe (Rachel) Granger, Drew (Katie) Warner, Brandon Warner, and Kiera Warner; great-grandchildren, Luca Gillia, Connor Hill, and Matteo Gillia; step-great-grandchildren, Jeremiah and Madison Granger, and Brooke and Jazmine Warner; his sisters, Gloria (Frances) Richards and Golda (Duane) Agard; step-sisters, Alvira (Mike) McGarr, and Sharon (Fred) Walden; a step-brother, Guy (Frances) Harrington; and a sister-in-law, Theresa (Milton “Bud”) Montena. He also leaves behind many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends may call on Gary’s family from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm, Friday, July 11, 2014 at Alexander-Baker Funeral Home, 3809 Main Street, Warrensburg.
A memorial service to celebrate his life will follow the visitation, at 12:30 pm at the funeral home with Rev. Ronald Allen, Pastor of the Sodom Community Church officiating.
Burial with military honors will follow at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations in Gary’s memory to the North Warren Emergency Squad.
Gary’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Rugge, Dr. Way, and the nurses on T2 and T6 at Glens Falls Hospital.
