Dorothy J. “Dottie” Lomax, 87, formerly of Fairview Avenue, passed away peacefully, Saturday, January 26, 2019 at Elderwood at North Creek following a long illness.
Born February 2, 1931 in Indian Lake, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Nina (Campney) Ashe.
She married James A. Lomax on October 17, 1948 in North Creek and together, operated their own plumbing and heating business as well as a local Montgomery Ward Catalog Store in North Creek. Dottie also served 20 years as the North Creek Water District Clerk.
Besides spending time with her family, she enjoyed cooking, garage sales, painting, and arts & crafts. She was a selfless woman, an excellent mother with a good heart.
Besides her parents, she is predeceased by her beloved husband of 58 years, Jim Lomax; her sister, Pearl White; her son, James “JJ” Lomax; and son-in-law, Richard Armstrong.
She is survived by a daughter, Glenda Armstrong-Fuller and her husband, Ray of Queensbury; daughter-in-law, Candace Lomax of North Creek; brother, Morgan McCane and his wife, Linda of NC; grandchildren, Dr. Jamie Lomax and her husband, Michael Wetzler of Annapolis, MD; Christine Waters and her husband, Christian of Queensbury, Travis Armstrong and his wife, Becky of Winthrop, ME, Becky Collignon and her husband, Duane of Queensbury; great grandchildren, Autumn, Hudson, Aden, Abner, Zion, Otis, and Zuri; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends may call on Dottie’s family from 4 to 6 pm, Friday, February 1, 2019 at the Alexander Funeral Home, 3809 Main St., Warrensburg.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will immediately follow the visitation at 6 pm, at the funeral home with her grandson, Pastor Travis Armstrong, officiating.
