I am so sad to hear of Joe's passing. He was an amazing person that I was lucky to have as a friend at RPI. He was smart, funny, and hard working. He excelled at everything. I remember that he talked about his parents and sister a lot. They were so important to him. He will be greatly missed.

Mr. and Mrs. Kelly, Brigid and family --
One person said it best here -- to know Joe was to love him. He always made me smile every time I saw him. He was a great doctor and he is missed.
I met former teachers of his from Warrensburg recently, and asked them if they knew Joe. Their faces lit up and they had nothing but good and kind things to say about him. I think that is the impression he left with everyone...good and kind.
I am glad I had the chance to know Joe, and I am so saddened by his passing. You are all in my thoughts and prayers at this very sad time.

Kathi, Mike and Family we were so sorry to hear about the lose of your son Joe, while we were never fortunate enough to have had the opportunity to have met him, knowing his parents we know he had to have been a fantastic kid. I have looked over some of the comments that other people have made about Joe and I now know that there is no doubt about it, he was.
In the Bible 1 Corinthians 13:4-13 speaks volumes to us about all things in life and in our passing or the loss of someone we love. These are the only words I can think of right now to send to you along with our love and prayers. We miss and we love you and after all these years we hope to see you again...soon we hope and pray.
Much love, faith, hope, and prayers go to you and your families and friends who are there suffering this terrible lose with you.
Our Love and Prayers to all, Ed (Butch) & Stella (Cleveland) VanNess

To Joe's Family--
I am very sorry to hear of your loss. Joe was a good friend of mine and it saddens me to think that I will never hear from him again. :( :(
Joe was a great person; he was always there for me when I needed someone to be there. We always talked about visiting one another since we live so far apart. It is a shame that I never went through with my plans.
It is times like these that make me respect my family much more, and these times make me want to tell everyone I know that I love them, just in case a tragedy like this hits closer to home next time.
Thank you guys for raising such an accomplished man--I am endebted to you for creating such a good friend. And in all this sadness, I have managed to find some joy in knowing that I had the opportunity to know Joe before his passing. Some people never go that privalege.

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Kelly,
Joe will be missed. His zest for life was unparalled. He lived more in his life than most people have ever lived in their own nor could realistically dream of doing so. Joe was a very close friend at the time of his passing, and this was very unexpected. No words can express how much he will be missed and how much he meant to me. He was a true friend, a true motivator, and a true humanitarian.
He brought hope to my life and to his own when neither of us believed there to be any. We helped each other through a few difficult struggles during which Joe and I became like brothers.
There are no words that I can offer to you to make you feel better. I can only say that Joe had a positive effect on a great many people more than he ever realized and for that he should be honored in the highest regard.
Let us celebrate his life and not mourn his passing. This is the way Joe would have wanted it and we should honor his enthusiasm for having a positive attitude no matter how bad life may seem.
Joe will be missed greatly, but his life will be appreciated and admired by those of us who wished we could have accomplished a fraction of what he did and by those of us who thank him for touching our lives.
-Brad

Im really sorry to hear about this. It just doesn't make any sense. Your talking to someone then a few days later there gone. Joe contacted me over a Dj Site and therefore after we became friends who shared the same music interests and etc. He was a really nice guy to talk to and someone who was very open minded. I dont have very many friends since they all moved away, but if i had the chance i would like to thank Joe for being my friend.

To the Kelly Family,
May you see God's light on the path ahead
When the road you walk is dark.
May you always hear,
Even in your hour of sorrow,
The gentle singing of the lark.
When times are hard may hardness
Never turn your heart to stone,
May you always remember
when the shadows fall—
You do not walk alone.

My condolences to all of you. I always expected to see Joe some time in the future and apologize for not keeping track of fellow graduates. It seems impossible that it's been 10 years since I saw him last, it seems like only yesterday that we graduated. He was far too young and will be missed by not only those lives he touched on a daily basis but by those of us, like myself who have nothing more than fond memories of our youth.
