Warrensburg:
Johann Osso, 79, of Grandview Lane, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at Glens Falls Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
Born October 2, 1937 in Schwarzenfeld, Germany, he was the son of the late Johann and Anna (Schiessel) Osso.
Johann married Kathleen M. Alguire on June 27, 1959 in Bellmore, Long Island.
For 30 years, John worked as a custodian at Adirondack Community College, moving his way through the ranks, retiring as foreman of the custodial department in 2000.
Besides spending time with his family, he enjoyed his second home in Zephyrhills, Florida, playing many rounds of golf, shuffleboard, and attending the many flea markets the state has to offer. During the summer months, he enjoyed working in his yard at his home in Warrensburg, bowling, and taking meticulous care of his vehicles. His greatest joy of all was his great-granddaughter, Bryli Johnson.
In addition to his parents, Johann is predeceased by two sons, Albert and John Osso; his brothers, Oscar and Heiner Osso and his beloved dog, Wrinkles.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Kathleen Osso of Warrensburg; a daughter, Anna Baker and her husband, Glenn, of Warrensburg; grandchildren, Albert Baker and his significant other, Rebekah Richards of VT, and Heather Baker and her significant other, J.P. Johnson of Warrensburg, and great-granddaughter, Bryli Johnson of Warrensburg; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends may call on Johann’s family from 1 to 3 pm, Sunday, January 8, 2017 at Alexander Funeral Home, Inc., 3809 Main St., Warrensburg.
A funeral service to celebrate his life will immediately follow the visitation at the funeral home at 3 pm.
Burial will be conducted in the spring in Warrensburg Cemetery, where Johann will be laid to rest alongside his sons.
His family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the doctors and nurses on Tower Two at the Glens Falls Hospital for the outstanding care and compassion shown during this difficult time. They would also like to thank their good friends, Mary and Chuck Pastor, and Rose Ehle for their love and support.
