Obituary of Randy L. Goodspeed

Pottersville: Randy L. Goodspeed, 53, of State Route 9, passed away, Monday, May 7, 2012 at the Glens Falls Hospital following a long illness. Born December 29, 1958 in Glens Falls, he was the son of Patricia (Mitchell) Goodspeed of Olmstedville and the late Raymond L. Goodspeed. Randy was a lifelong resident of the area and enlisted in the US Army in 1977. He served for over 5 years, stationed in Korea and Germany. He started his working years, on Gore Mountain building ski trails. He worked for many years in the residential construction field up until his illness. His favorite pastimes included playing cards, camping, hunting, fishing and was considered a jack of all trades. Besides his father, he is predeceased by sister in law, Katie Goodspeed; paternal grandparents, Henry and Gladys Goodspeed; maternal grandparents, Herbert and Katherine Mitchell and several aunts and uncles. He is survived by his beloved mother, Patricia Goodspeed and her companion, Roy Palmer of Olmstedville; his siblings: Debra Locke and her husband, George of Indian Lake; Elaine Goodspeed and her fiancée, Hugh Matson of North Creek; Sandy Warner and her husband, Larry of Chestertown; Ron Goodspeed and his companion, Robin Condon of Queensbury; and Jeffrey Goodspeed of Chestertown. He also leaves behind several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and his special friend, Jana Dunbar of North Creek and his black cat, Pumpkin. A funeral service to celebrate Randy’s life will be conducted 10:00 am, Thursday at the Alexander-Baker Funeral Home, 3809 Main St., Warrensburg with his cousin, Joe Provoncha officiating. Friends may call on his family one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial with full military honors will follow the at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville.
