Loretta M. (Tillema) Degelormo, 54, passed away suddenly on Sunday, April 11, 2010 at her home with her loving husband at her side.
Born on December 14, 1955 in Rotterdam, she was the daughter of Henry Tillema and the late Helen (Snowstein) Tillema.
Loretta was raised in Rotterdam and graduated from the Schalmont High School, Class of 1973. She moved to Thurman in 1977 where she spent her adult life.
Loretta loved all animals and cared for her beloved horses, parrots, sheep and dogs, all with the same devotion and passion.
Loretta had many hobbies. She was a prolific artist working with oils, pastels and acrylics. She also was a spinner, weaver, dyer and rug hooker.
A licensed ham radio operator she enjoyed being at her radio station talking to friends and making contacts with other hams.
Loretta was an avid gardener who won numerous awards for her flower and garden landscapes. She also loved to hunt, fish, and ride her horses.
She was predeceased by her mother, Helen (Snowstein) Tillema of Onchiota.
She is survived by her loving husband of 30 years, Thomas Degelormo of Thurman; her father, Henry Tillema of Onchiota; her sister, Yvette Tillema of Keene; and her beloved niece, Helen Lawrence of Keene.
The Family would like to thank the Thurman Rescue Squad and especially EMT’s, Barb and Jean.
To honor Loretta’s wishes, her earthly remains are to be cremated and there are no calling hours scheduled.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be conducted at a later date at her home.
