Obituary of Joyce W. MacClelland

Warrensburg: Joyce W. MacClelland, 74, of 3 Cloverleaf Drive went into the arms of the Lord on Thursday, April 22, 2010 at home, surrounded by her loving family, following a courageous battle with cancer. Born August 16, 1935 in Warrensburg, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Jessie (Carpenter) Wilsey. Joyce married the late Warner MacClelland in April 1956. She received her R.N. from Union School of Nursing in 1956. She was a registered nurse and nursing supervisor for many years at Glens Falls Hospital, and later at the Adirondack Tri-County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Joyce loved being a grandma and great-grandma, spending many hours with her grandchildren. She enjoyed hearing “her girls” sing, cooking, painting, reading, and exploring new vacation sites. She also enjoyed cruising around town in her bright red Mustang convertible with the top down. Besides her parents, Joyce was predeceased by her sister, June Elizabeth Wilsey; her brother, James Douglas Wilsey; her granddaughter; Christina Marie MacClelland; and her niece, Victoria Wilsey. Survivors include her daughters, June E. MacClelland of Warrensburg, and Nancy (Joe) Barrow of Glens Falls; granddaughter, Megan J. MacClelland of Warrensburg; grandson, Joseph P. Barrow, currently serving his country in Afghanistan, and his wife, Amy of Glens Falls, granddaughter, Heather R. Barrow of Glens Falls; great-grandchildren, Adden, Hannah and Dylan of Glens Falls; sister, Louise Hayes of Warrensburg; brothers, Harold (Ann) Wilsey Arkansas, and Robert (Marcia) Wilsey of Queensbury; sister-in-law, Audrey Wilsey of Warrensburg; daughter in heart, Annette M. Vredenburg of Warrensburg; and several nieces, nephews, and wonderful friends. Friends may call on Joyce’s family from 2-4 pm, Sunday at the Alexander-Baker Funeral Home, 3809 Main St., Warrensburg. A funeral service to celebrate her life will be conducted 10:00 am, Monday at the First United Methodist Church in Warrensburg with the Rev. Annette M. Vredenburg officiating. Burial will follow in the Warrensburg Cemetery.
