Jason Hart Holley, Jr., 87, of State Route 8, passed away peacefully, Monday, May 9, 2011 at Saratoga Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
“Jay” Holley was born November 23, 1923 in Stroudsburg, PA, he was the son of the late Jason Sr. and Jemima (Aten) Holley.
Following his high school graduation, Jason enlisted in the US Navy during World War II and survived the attack on Pearl Harbor and served on Midway Island and the New Hebrides.
Besides spending time with his family, Jason enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Besides his parents, Jay is predeceased by his beloved first wife of 48 years, Elizabeth Hewitt Holley; his second wife, Myrtle Poirier Holley; and his son, T.J. Holley.
He is survived by his two daughters: Doralyn Holley Woodard and her husband, Sam, of Gainesville, GA; Vicki Amatuzzi and her husband, Gigi of Johnsburg; daughter-in-law, Kristin Holley Elkinton and her husband, Thom, of Waxhaw, NC; his grandchildren: T.J. Persons and his wife, Stacey, of Groton, CT; Janina Darnell and her husband, Greg, of Newton, KS; Brian Holley and his wife, Sandra, Waxhaw, NC; Heather Lackey and her husband, Andrew of Waxhaw, NC; along with several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
At Jay’s request, services are to be conducted privately at the convenience of the family.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the American Cancer Society.
Jay’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr.
Liebers and his staff at Saratoga Hematology and Oncology, and also the staff at the Saratoga Hospital.
