Obituary of Clifford L. Dureau

Thurman: Clifford L. Dureau, III, 82, of Sky High Road, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at his home surrounded by his loving family following a courageous battle with cancer. Born February 16, 1930 in Bayshore, he was the son of the late Clifford II and Lorraine (Fitzgerald) Dureau. Clifford enlisted with the United States Navy as part of the Underwater Demolition Team (UDT) and proudly served his country. Clifford married Janet Schutte, his childhood sweetheart on October 3, 1953. The couple lived and raised their family in Smithtown, Long Island before permanantly relocating to the Adirondacks in 1992. He was very active in his community and involved in many organizations including the Warrensburg Senior Citizens, the Sugarloaf Senior Club, and the Thurman Gleaming Program. He was also a member of a Warrensburg Men’s Club and Meals on Wheels for well over a decade. Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his beloved wife of 49 years, Janet S. Dureau. He is survived by his children: Colette Masom of Glastonbury, CT; Corinne Dureau and her husband, Bill Dodd of Farmingville; Keith Dureau and his wife, Tina of Middle Island; Kyle Dureau of New York City; and Colleen Dureau-Inzerillo and her husband, Tom of Westhampton Beach; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and his loving companion of 10 years, Gerri Howe. Friends may call on Clifford’s family from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm, Friday, June 1, 2012, at the Alexander-Baker Funeral Home, 3809 Main St., Warrensburg. A funeral service to celebrate his life will be conducted at 2:30 pm, Saturday at the funeral home with Fr. Paul Cox, officiating. Burial will follow in Reynolds Cemetery, Thurman.
