Obituary of Vivienne M. Woodruff

Warrensburg: Vivienne M. Woodruff, 86, of Elm Street, went home to Glory on Sunday, January 15, 2012 at her home. Born January 13, 1926 in Ballston Spa, she was the daughter of the late Leslie R. and Violetta F. (O’Bryon) Woodruff. Vivienne has been a resident of Warrensburg since 1971. Upon her retirement from the Glens Falls and Continental Insurance Companies in 1988 after 40 years of dedication, she remained employed part-time by the Insurance Company as well as by Rite Aid and the Lake George Garage until September 1999. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Warrensburg for many years; leaving behind a loving church family. There, she was a member of the United Methodist Women from 1999-2011, holding various titles; S.A.M.M. (Stuffed Animal Ministry Mission); Red Bookshelf Mission; Sunday School Teacher from 2005-2007 and Vacation Bible School; Vivienne also baked the communion bread and was a certified Lay Speaker. Vivienne enjoyed reading, music, and volunteering and worshiping at her church. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by a baby sister, Kathleen M. Woodruff, and three brothers: James L., Robert E., and Ralph C. Woodruff. Survivors include her brother, Kenneth S. Woodruff and his wife, Thelma of Whitehall; sister, Viola E. Opdahl and her husband, Robert of Hurley. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and a cousin. At Vivienne’s request there are no calling hours scheduled. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be conducted 11 am, Saturday, January 21, 2012, at the Warrensburg First United Methodist Church, 3890 Main St., Warrensburg with Rev. Dawn Robbins and Pastor Stephen Andrews, officiating.
