Joan B. Stewart, 82, formerly of Garnet Lake, passed away peacefully, Saturday, December 25, 2010, at the Glens Falls Hospital following a brief illness.
Born March 12, 1928 in Manhattan, she was the daughter of the late Roger and Catherine (Butterfield) Brassel.
Joan was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She loved to laugh and was happiest spending time with her family and friends.
She is predeceased by her husband, Edward S. Stewart, on April 26, 2002. They were married on September 17, 1949.
Joan is survived by four children: Catherine A. Stewart of Hartford, CT; Claire Stewart Pesiri and her husband, Emil of San Francisco, CA; Susan V. Stewart of Scotia; and Mark R. B. Stewart of Washington DC; three grandchildren, Renee, Dean and Matthew; three sisters, Catherine Sponberg, Marguerite Heithaus and Rogette Gerstle.
At Joan's request, there are no calling hours scheduled. Services will be conducted privately at the convenience of the family.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Westmount Health Facility, 42 Gurney Lane, Queensbury, 12804.
