Shellie M. Teachout, 51, of Hudson Street, passed away peacefully, Monday, March 28, 2011 surrounded by her loving family at her home following a courageous battle with cancer.
Born November 9, 1959 in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of Merle Coulter and Theodore Patton, Sr., both of Johnsburg.
Shellie attended Johnsburg Central School, where she participated in the “across the ages” program, working at the Adirondack Tri-Country Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Upon graduating high school in 1977, she continued working as a CNA, while furthering her education at BOCES and completing her nursing studies at Adirondack Community College. There, she became a LPN, and went on to work an additional 27 years at the nursing home prior to her early retirement.
Shellie is predeceased by her loving husband of 21 years, Michael Teachout; her step father, Edward Coulter, her sister, Bonnie Gage; brother, Arthur Gage; nephew, Lonnie Gage; paternal grandparents, Gilbert and Mary Patton; and her maternal grandparents, Fred and Eva Granger.
Besides her parents, she leaves behind; her sister, Charlene Wood of Corinth; brothers, Theodore Patton, Jr. of Plattsburg, and Scott Patton, Sr. and his wife, Erika of Johnsburg; step-mother, Patricia Patton of Johnsburg; step-sister, Michelle Saunders and her husband, Chad of Cambridge; brother, David Patton and his wife, Laura of Rensselaer; aunts and uncles, Irene Granger, Bob and Doris Patton, David and Kathy Schwedt; along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends may call on Shellie’s family from 3-5 pm, Thursday at the Alexander-Baker Funeral Home, 3809 Main Street, Warrensburg.
A funeral service to celebrate her life will follow the visitation at 5 pm, Thursday at the funeral home.
Shellie’s family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Daniel Way of North Creek HHHN, Dr. Hoffman at the C.R. Wood Cancer Center at Glens Falls Hospital, Dr. Savage and his staff at St. Peters Hospital, nurse and special friends, Kathy McGowin, Jill Carpenter, and Gretchen Millington for all the special care they have provided during her brave battle.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations in Shellie’s memory to the Make a Wish Foundation, One Mustang Drive, Cohoes, NY 12047
